Cookie Policy

What cookies and similar technologies we use, and how to manage your preferences.

Cookie Policy

Last Updated: 29 October 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, which ones Anouk Solutions (Pty) Ltd uses when you visit anouksolutions.com, why we use them, and how you can manage or withdraw your consent at any time.

This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information more broadly.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website, used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information about how a site is used. Cookies set by the website you're visiting are “first-party”; cookies set by other parties (such as an analytics or advertising provider) are “third-party” cookies.

We also use browser storage that is not a cookie at all — your cookie preference itself is stored in your browser's local storage, and advertising-attribution details are held in local or session storage (see Section 3.4). We call this out explicitly because it affects how you view and manage it.

2. Why We Use Cookies

  • Strictly necessary — to make our Website function and remain secure. Without this, certain parts of the site won't work.
  • Analytics and performance — to understand how visitors use our Website so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics (GA4) for this, only after you consent.
  • Marketing and advertising — to measure our advertising and show relevant ads on Meta platforms. We use the Meta Pixel for this, only after you consent. This allows Meta to match your visit with your Facebook or Instagram account for advertising purposes, including via hashed contact-form data (see Section 3.3 below).

3. The Cookies We Use

3.1 Strictly Necessary

Essential for the Website to function, and set regardless of your cookie choice. These cookies don't store any personally identifiable information.

  • csrf_token — anouksolutions.com — Session — Protects our forms against cross-site request forgery attacks.

3.2 Analytics (Google Analytics)

Only set after you accept cookies via our banner. All data is aggregated; we don't use it to identify you personally.

  • _ga — Google Analytics — 2 years — Distinguishes unique users via a randomly generated identifier.
  • _ga_<container-id> — Google Analytics — 2 years — Persists GA4 session state across page requests.

3.3 Marketing and Advertising (Meta Pixel)

Only set after you accept cookies via our banner. The Meta Pixel is provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. and may collect the pages you visit, actions you take (such as submitting a form), your IP address, and browser/device information, to measure and improve the relevance of our advertising. You can opt out of Meta's use of this data for advertising at any time at facebook.com/ads/preferences.

Advanced matching: on pages where the Meta Pixel is active, it also reads the name and email address you enter into our contact and demo request forms. These values are converted into a one-way cryptographic hash in your browser before anything is sent — we don't transmit your name or email address to Meta in readable form. Meta uses this hash to match your visit to a Meta account for advertising attribution and audience building. This applies only where you've consented to marketing cookies.

  • _fbp — Meta (Facebook) — 3 months — Set on our domain by the Pixel; identifies browsers for advertising and site analytics.
  • _fbc — Meta (Facebook) — 2 years — Only set if you arrive via a Facebook or Instagram ad click; used to attribute conversions back to that ad.

Cookies such as fr and datr that you may see referenced in other Meta documentation are set by Meta on facebook.com itself when you're logged into Facebook — not by our Website.

3.4 Browser Storage (not cookies)

Held in your browser’s storage rather than in a cookie. Your browser does not send it to us on its own, and it is saved with an enquiry only if you submit a form. The campaign tags and Meta click identifier are also carried in the address of the “Request demo” link on our Anouk Fleet page, so they reach this Website when you arrive.

  • as_attr — anouksolutions.com — Local storage for up to 90 days, only if you chose “Accept all”; otherwise session storage until you close the tab — Holds the campaign tags (utm_*) and Meta click identifier (fbclid) from the advert link you arrived on, the page you landed on and the referrer, from your first visit only. Saved with a form submission so we can see which advert produced it. The local copy is removed if you withdraw consent.
  • as_utm — anouksolutions.com — Session storage until you close the tab — Holds the campaign tags (utm_*) from the advert link you arrived on, so they are not lost as you move between pages. Used to label our advertising events.

3.5 Anonymous Button-Click Counts (no cookies)

When you click a sign-up, sign-in or demo button on our Anouk Fleet page, we record which button it was and the campaign tags from your link, if any. This sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device. We do not store anything that identifies you: the record has no IP address, browser or device details, cookie or visitor identifier, name or email address. It is recorded whatever cookie choice you make.

4. Legal Basis for Using Cookies

We operate under South African law and comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Where applicable to a visitor, we also aim to meet GDPR/UK GDPR standards.

  • Strictly necessary: legitimate interest — required for the Website to function, no consent needed.
  • Analytics: consent — only placed after you accept via our cookie banner.
  • Marketing / Meta Pixel: consent — only placed after you accept via our cookie banner. Your consent must be freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous.

5. Your Cookie Choices and How to Manage Them

5.1 Our Cookie Banner

When you first visit anouksolutions.com, you'll see a cookie banner with two choices: Accept all (strictly necessary, analytics, and marketing) or Accept necessary (strictly necessary only). You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer of every page, which reopens this same banner.

5.2 Browser Settings

You can also control cookies through your browser settings — view, delete, or block cookies from specific sites or entirely. Blocking all cookies may affect parts of the Website.

  • Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data

5.3 Opting Out of Google Analytics

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5.4 Opting Out of Meta Pixel

Manage your ad preferences at facebook.com/ads/preferences, or use the Digital Advertising Alliance or Network Advertising Initiative opt-out tools.

6. International Data Transfers

Some cookies involve transferring data to countries outside South Africa, including the United States (Google LLC and Meta Platforms, Inc.). These transfers rely on your consent when you accept analytics/marketing cookies, together with contractual protections with our providers. By accepting, you acknowledge your data may be processed in jurisdictions with different data protection laws than South Africa's.

7. How Long We Keep Cookie Data

Each cookie's duration is set out in Section 3 above. Your cookie preference itself, however, is stored in your browser's local storage rather than a cookie, which means it has no fixed expiry — it persists until you change it via Cookie Settings or clear your browser's site data for anouksolutions.com.

8. Your Rights

Under POPIA and, where applicable, the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Withdraw consent at any time via the Cookie Settings link in our footer.
  • Access information about the personal data we hold about you.
  • Erasure of personal data collected through cookies, subject to our legal obligations.
  • Lodge a complaint — with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za) if you're in South Africa, or your local data protection authority if you're in the EU or UK.

9. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the cookies we use, changes in law, or other operational reasons. Material changes will update the “Last Updated” date above and, where appropriate, be flagged via our cookie banner.
